Why work with RedHawk

Real field work

Courses will include classroom learning, practical field exercises and assessed scenarios on one of the most demanding coastlines in Canada.

Our own courses

Every RedHawk course is designed and developed in-house and delivered by our instructors, in RedHawk’s own signature training style. Some wellness sessions will be delivered by independent professionals using RedHawk’s licensed curriculum.

Safety comes first

Every course will run under a written field safety system: risk assessments, an emergency response plan, muster drills and an on-island medic.

A founding team

Be part of the first team at the Gooseberry Island training campus and help shape the courses, the camp and the standards from day one.

Come home to work

Newfoundlanders and Labradorians working away are encouraged to apply. Remote interviews are available.

Grow as an instructor

RedHawk’s in-house Instructor Development & Program Quality course (RH-05) and room to grow into senior and lead instructor roles.

Roles we are accepting applications for

RedHawk roles lead the island base and design and deliver the training. Gooseberry Island operations roles support every course on the island and work alongside the RedHawk team.

This is a contract opportunity for independent professionals, not an employment position. The terms of the written services agreement, not this posting, govern the relationship.

RedHawk Newfoundland Survival Ltd. is seeking four to six independent professionals to deliver wellness, breathwork, mindful-movement and resilience sessions from RedHawk’s proprietary program curriculum on Gooseberry Island and at RedHawk mainland sites. Professionals from Newfoundland and Labrador, elsewhere in Canada and abroad are welcome to apply. Sessions are educational and recreational. They are not health care, and they do not replace care from a licensed health professional.

Scope and qualifications

Scope of services

  • Deliver RedHawk’s licensed curriculum and materials under RedHawk’s brand standards, quality standards and safety rules, choosing your own teaching methods to meet the curriculum outcomes
  • RedHawk owns all curriculum, materials and intellectual property; you receive a licence to use them for RedHawk sessions under the services agreement
  • Lead workshops, seminars and small-group sessions, and offer one-on-one coaching sessions within your own professional scope and licence
  • Run cold-exposure, breathwork and conditioning sessions only under RedHawk’s safety rules and participant screening, with RedHawk’s on-site medic cover, and never in or near water unless RedHawk’s water-safety plan applies
  • Share session outlines with RedHawk in advance for safety, quality and scheduling review
  • Coordinate session dates, locations and participant numbers with RedHawk’s program team
  • Keep accurate session records and follow the record-keeping and privacy rules of your discipline and the privacy terms of the services agreement. Any participant health or screening information is collected and held only as RedHawk’s screening process requires

What you bring

  • Current certification in your discipline and, where the discipline is regulated, licensing or registration in the province where services are delivered (Newfoundland and Labrador for Gooseberry Island)
  • Work only within your own professional scope and licence
  • For any session described as a Wim Hof Method session: a current, valid Wim Hof Method instructor certificate in your own name, renewed yearly
  • Legally able to provide these services in Canada (for international professionals, this may require a work permit; ask us before applying)
  • Extensive experience delivering workshops, seminars or keynote presentations, including to leadership teams, Private Client groups, government or international organizations
  • Outstanding communication and leadership skills, and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
  • Your own business, with your own professional liability (malpractice) and general liability insurance at limits RedHawk sets, naming RedHawk Newfoundland Survival Ltd. as an additional insured, plus your own tools, equipment and certifications. WorkplaceNL coverage or optional personal coverage may be required
  • Responsible for your own taxes, including GST/HST registration where it applies
  • An asset: experience in expedition leadership, outdoor education, wilderness first aid, polar operations, high-performance coaching or scientific field research

Session areas

  • Breathwork and cold-exposure coaching
  • Mindful movement
  • Qi Gong
  • Yoga and mobility
  • Health and performance coaching
  • Nutrition and lifestyle education (non-clinical)
  • Rest and recovery coaching
  • Mental performance and resilience coaching
  • Outdoor leadership and team development
  • Expedition human performance

Some cold-exposure and breathwork sessions may be led by instructors certified by Innerfire B.V. in the Wim Hof Method; those are the instructor’s own official sessions. WIM HOF and WIM HOF METHOD are trademarks of Innerfire B.V. RedHawk is not affiliated with or endorsed by Innerfire B.V. Clinical services (for example acupuncture, cupping, massage therapy, physiotherapy or medicine) are not part of this engagement.
